My article “A pivotal event narrative in critical terrorism studies: COVID-19 and the threat of terrorism” is out in a special issue “, Reflections on Remembering: 9/11 Twenty Years On”, in Critical Studies on Terrorism. You can find the introduction to the issue from the editors here (open access).
In my article, I reflect on the temporality of our perception of security threats. I outline how the global pandemic of Covid-19 and its consequences have been and will continue to influence our perception of threats. I mainly focus on the relationship between the pandemic and the threat of terrorism, arguing that the Covid-19 outbreak will inevitably change our understanding of intra- and extra-group dynamics and transform how we see the Other.
Please check out the special issue – it is an excellent collection of reflections on the last twenty years of terrorism research. You can find my article “A pivotal event narrative in critical terrorism studies: COVID-19 and the threat of terrorism” here.
